CLASSIC RACING is a hefty record of ten years at the world's biggest classic motor racing event, captured through the lens by Peter Osborne. Within this book's 260 A4 landscape pages the author complements 256 of his colour photographs with concise captions plus race reports, together with results from each year – apart from 2020 when COVID forced the cancellation of the event.
Concentrating on the racing action, CLASSIC RACING illustrates the eclectic mix of old, and not so old, racing machinery that took to the track during the Silverstone Classic Festival weekends between 2012 and 2023. Photographs are captioned, identifying the cars and drivers at Silverstone, many with further information about the history of the cars and who drove them in the past.

Motor Sport - June 2024
"Anybody who’s been a regular of the Silverstone Festival over the last decade and more is indeed fortunate, for the sheer volume of racing cars that have descended on the track from all eras each summer is mesmerising – as Peter Osborne’s images convey. He's no Louis Klemantaski but then again Silverstone doesn’t offer much in the way of a dramatic backdrop. Even so, Osborne’s determination to capture peak action at the annual classic is evident. He gets his shots from every angle – a Lotus Cortina from the rear, a Brabham BT49C from the side, a Lola T210 from above, and in all weathers. Osborne’s year-by-year approach to his book comes with a detailed essay of what happened in which races, meaty captions the sort Motor Sport’s art editor simply will not allow and, at the end of each chapter, results. Two hundred and fifty six pics across 260 A4 pages with, pretty much, racing history from the dawn of driving onwards thrown in."

"Excellent! Peter Osborne is a master of his photographic art, and I revelled in studying the fruits of his labours behind his lenses, so beautifully captured in this book. I was also impressed by the text and captions, jointly put together by Peter with Jeremy Walton, both very knowledgeable guys in terms of the motor racing scene – and this intrepid pair have worked well together for more than 50 years. If you have even a minor interest in classic cars and motor racing, my advice is to invest £29.95 so that you too can enjoy this wonderful book."
